Head of In Vitro Sciences

We are seeking highly qualified in leader and in vitro scientist with extensive experience in
biochemical and cellular assays for target validation and in vitro pharmacology. The successful candidate will have expertise in biochemistry and/or enzymology and will be a primary lead as it relates to biochemical assay development and small molecule screening. Additional experience with cellular assays is important. Applicants must feel comfortable with the fast pace of a small biotech company and have the flexibility to work on multiple projects.

Your Role in Navigating The Maze:

  • Conduct and supervise in vitro studies to determine on-target and off-target activity in
    biochemical and/or cellular assays across multiple projects.
  • Lead assay development group and manage the application of automation and informatics activities to provide regular high quality assay results that help drive project team decision.
  • In vivo experience is a plus, as you will collaborate with in vivo for new studies.

We are seeking a Head of Medicinal Chemistry that will build and lead a team of talented chemists to generate, optimize and develop lead small novel small molecules. You will collaborate with other cross functional leaders to create a strategy for drug discovery and deliver development candidates for our small molecule programs.

Your Role in Navigating The Maze:

  • You will apply your drug hunting expertise to leading teams and developing strategy across the spectrum of drug discovery, but we are counting on your expertise in early discovery, including planning a lead generation strategy and executing on hit assessment through optimization and development candidate selection. You will work closely and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team of computational chemists, biophysicists, cell and molecular biologists, pharmacologists, and DMPK specialists. You see how all the aspects of compound performance are necessary to make it a drug, and you can communicate that effectively to your discovery partners and lead the Medicinal Chemistry team to produce the desired results.

Your Navigation Tools:

Vivarium Manager

Your Role in Navigating The Maze:

  • Significant contribution to the design, and oversight of the construction, of the new vivarium
  • Establish all appropriate vivarium infrastructure to support Maze’s preclinical research
  • Play a significant role in supporting the establishment of a company IACUC to ensure the highest ethical standards and quality of animal research are maintained

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated senior-level engineer to join us and contribute towards accelerating the drug discovery process by deploying cutting edge automation platforms. As we continue to bring more programs and processes online, the individual will play a key role in building out the automation group and infrastructure to support the growth.

Your Role in Navigating The Maze:

  • You will be working closely with scientists to automate process to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • You will be responsible for deploying walk-up systems and fully integrated automated platforms comprising plate handling robots, liquid handlers, plate readers, storage devices, etc. to support discovery workflows.
  • As new processes come online, you will be responsible for working with scientists to transfer them to the automated platforms and train users to operate them.
  • You will be participating in the design and layout of the automated instrumentation lab as we start looking at a new facility.
  • You will be responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and coordinating with the vendors to ensure that the downtime is minimal.
